Infant Classes Age 4 months - 2 1/2 years old
Aqua Essence offers a baby program that is unique to North America. We teach your infant how to swim! Consistent with our philosophy we use small classes, maximum of 5 infants to maximize the instruction and time we spend with you and your baby. We teach repetitive instructions that help teach your baby to be safe in and around the water. Parents who have participated in this program our continuously wowed and amazed at the skills that their little swimmers have. The babies that swim in our program SWIM! The younger you introduce your baby to the water the more comfortable he or she will be in the water. We encourage parents to start their infants as soon as they can hold their heads up (4-6 months). For consistency and best results we encourage as much as possible for the same care giver to attend the majority of the classes.
Classes are made up based on skill level. This program is too amazing for words and we welcome you to come and observe any one of our parent and baby classes. We have people from all over Canada and the United States inquiring about our baby program and philosophy.
Infants stay in this program and continue to progress and advance their skills until they are 2 1/2. Once they are 2 1/2, they head into the Red Cross Swim Program and continue to work on Sea Turtle levels in our unique curriculum designed for toddlers who have successfully graduated from our baby program.
Infant classes are offered through out the week on various days. We generally teach infant classes in the morning due to napping schedules. Inquire early as these classes fill up very quickly and are continuously sold out! We will always do our best to accommodate you so if a class is full, find a friend and we will open up another class for you.
Do you worry that your infant might choke? Do you and/or your family members know what to do if this situation arises? We do! We would be happy to help you feel safe and secure knowing that the people you trust with your most precious commodity would know what to do in any situation. We can come to your house and teach you and your family the skills you need to feel safe and secure with FIRST AID and CPR.
Canadian Life Saving
The Society's mission is to prevent drowning and aquatic accidents for Canadians by providing public education and program education. The Lifesaving Society serves Canadians by providing information and skills that promote safety in, on and around the water.
Rookie, Ranger, Star, and Bronze Star: Maximum of 5 participants per class.
Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross: Minimum of 4 participants, maximum of 6 participants per class.
Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Crash Courses
Our philosophy is simple: teenagers are busy, so let's make it easy and successful!
We do not offer weekly Lifesaving courses because after testing them out compared to our crash courses, the results were not nearly as good and the feedback was not nearly as positive. We listened to you and your teenagers 7 years ago and are still listening!
We offer the courses at a time that is convenient for you and your family, weekends, days off from school, winter break, spring break and summer vacation, or any other time that works. All we need is 4 (maximum of 6) participants and we will run a course.
We offer a one of a kind program in the City... Why?
Our courses are deigned to be effective and efficient.
We teach the class using a variety of teaching methods that offer the best possible learning outcome.
Our course is taught in a classroom and in the pool.
We combine lifesaving with first aid, allowing you to get more for your money.
Our course is current and uses best practice methods.
We insist that the candidates perform at the highest level.
Our candidates that complete Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross come out above average compared to their peers in higher level courses and obtaining further employment with these requirements.
We use an outside examiner (from the lifesaving society) and will not exam our own classes.
All Bronze Courses include First Aid and CPR.
Prerequisite/Requirements to Participate in Bronze Courses
Bronze Medallion - Candidates must have a minimum of either a Level 10 Red Cross Swim Award, or a Bronze Star award or be 13 years old.
Bronze Cross - Candidates must have a Bronze Medallion Award
Bronze Medallion/Emergency First Aid/Level B CPR
Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles that make up the four components of water rescue -- judgment (please correct the spelling of judgment), knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers learn to respond to increasingly complex situations involving conscious and unconscious victims in contact and non-contact rescues. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance with a timed swim.
If successful the Bronze Medallion Award comes with a Level B CPR and an Emergency First Aid Award
Bronze Cross/Standard First Aid/Level C CPR
Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite to the National Lifeguard Service Award, and the Lifesaving Instructor Award. Bronze Cross is the stepping-stone for all of the Society's advanced training programs in lifesaving, lifeguarding and leadership.
If successful the Bronze Cross Course comes with a Level C CPR and a Standard First Aid Award.
Must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 6. We are very flexible and more than happy to work around busy schedules. Please call to schedule a class.
Examination of Bronze Courses is by an independent authorized examiner.
The Combo Course
Do you require Bronze Medallion, a Standard First Aid and Level C CPR for Camp or a Job?
We will combine the 2 classes into an intensive crash course. Don't waste your time taking it twice.
First Aid Courses
All Levels of First Aid are offered and take anywhere from 4 hours up to 2 days depending on the level.
Aqua Essence staff is certified to bring you First Aid and CPR courses. We are equipped to teach you and your friends either Lifesaving Society First Aid and CPR or Red Cross First Aid and CPR. We have a variety of courses that will meet your needs.
We are pleased to put these courses together at a time suitable to your family's needs. Day times, Evenings and Weekends are all available.
